Pickleball Kingdom adopted LED Lighting Supply's Plano high bay plan as its franchise standard: 16 locations and 1,700+ fixtures in two years, it reports.
Results
The challenge
Pickleball Kingdom started with a Plano warehouse that still had the previous tenant's industrial lighting, which had never been planned for 15 competitive courts. An earlier supplier without indoor sports experience had also made recommendations for several facilities that did not suit competitive pickleball.
The solution
LED Lighting Supply laid a new fixture plan over the Plano floor plan covering both the courts and the aisles, and later advised on corrective plans for the other locations. The Plano design uses 200 W UFO high bays at 25 feet.
The outcome
LED Lighting Supply reports an average of 47 fc at Plano. After a successful first year, Pickleball Kingdom built the plan into its franchise build-out package. Most locations use four lights on the regular courts and five on each of two Kings courts, and in two years LED Lighting Supply supplied over 1,700 fixtures to 16 locations.
Key takeaways
- A pilot location became the franchise's standard build.
- Industrial warehouse lighting had never been evaluated for tournament pickleball.
- A corrective plan brought earlier locations in line with the Plano layout.
