How we vet brands

Every brand in this catalogue is vetted by Sports Venue Calculator (SVC) before it is listed. This page explains what that means, how the directory is funded, which certifications brands typically hold, how products are ordered, and what our verification does and does not mean.

What does verified mean?

• The company is a real, operating business.
• Most are members of the American Sports Builders Association (ASBA), the trade association for sports facility construction.
• They hold industry quality certifications (see below).
• Their contact details are confirmed.
• They are part of the SVC professional network. Project owners and planners with a real project get direct access to the brand's experts to help plan it.
• Their product specifications are checked frequently, and each product page links to its source.

How is the directory funded?

All brands in this catalogue are partners of Sports Venue Calculator and have a commercial agreement with us. That agreement does not change the order in which products appear or the specifications we show. We vet each brand before we list it.

Which certifications do brands typically hold?

It depends on what a brand makes. Not every brand holds every one, and each product page lists the ones that apply.

Outdoor courts (tennis, pickleball, multi-sport)

• ASBA Certified Tennis Court Builder (CTCB) for builders.
• ITF tennis technical standards for court surfaces.

Artificial turf fields

• ASBA Certified Field Builder, Synthetic Turf (CFB-S) for builders.
• FIFA Quality Programme for football turf.
• Synthetic Turf Council guidelines and membership.

Running tracks

• ASBA Certified Track Builder (CTB) for builders.
• World Athletics certification (formerly IAAF) for track surfaces.

Indoor and gym flooring

• Maple Flooring Manufacturers Association (MFMA) standards for maple sports floors.
• DIN 18032-2, the German sports hall floor standard, from the German Institute for Standardization.

LED sports lighting

• DLC (DesignLights Consortium) listing for energy performance.
• UL or ETL (Intertek) safety listing.
• IES recommended practices for sports lighting design.

Padel courts

• International Padel Federation (FIP) approval and court specifications.

Does verified mean best?

No. Verification means we have filtered some of the leading brands and products in the sports facility construction industry in North America. It does not mean these are the only quality brands or products, and it is not a ranking. We help project owners and planners find the right experts with the right products for their projects faster.

How are products ordered?

Products appear in a random order, so no brand gets a head start. The order changes between visits. Specifications come from each manufacturer's own product pages and spec sheets, and each product page links to its source.
