The Valle Hunt Club lit adjoining tennis and pickleball courts with one ProCourt platform and sport-specific uniformity targets, Duvon says.
Results
The challenge
The club's tennis and pickleball courts sit side by side. Pickleball has a faster ball and a lower bounce than tennis, which calls for tighter uniformity, so one design had to satisfy both sports.
The solution
Duvon laid out ProCourt heads differently by sport, with six on each tennis court and four on each pickleball court, and turned the optics to follow the court diagonals. One 5000K color temperature across all courts gives the ball the same appearance when members switch from doubles to a pickleball ladder in one evening.
The outcome
Duvon reports commissioning at 1.2:1 uniformity on the pickleball courts and 1.3:1 on the tennis courts, with 45 fc and 50 fc average light and glare within ITF and IFP recommended practice. It puts the saving at up to 59 percent against HID.
About the ProCourt fixture
ProCourt is Duvon's 300 and 400 watt court lighting family for tennis, pickleball and multi-court projects. A single fixture produces up to 54,495 lumens. Color temperature is 4000K or 5000K, with 70 CRI standard and 80 or 90 optional.
Key takeaways
- Pickleball needed a tighter uniformity target than tennis, so the layout was not one-size-fits-all.
- A single color temperature kept the ball looking the same across sports.
- Fixture counts differed by court type (six against four).
