Pleasanton's driving range lit its new and original bays to the same standard with Liberty LEDs, and planners approved the perimeter cut-off, Duvon says.
Results
The challenge
The range doubled its number of tees, but the existing floodlights could not be extended without losing output along the original tee line. The owner wanted both the old and new bays to perform the same.
The solution
Duvon put the whole range on 1200 W Liberty heads, took out the old floodlights and gave both sections the same optics and controls. New mid-field masts were sized for the deep carry, and the original masts were re-aimed to feed light into the added bays.
The outcome
Duvon reports uniform tee-line light of 22 fc across the old and new bays, a graduated deep-range profile and perimeter cut-off that satisfied the planning consent, with a saving of up to 61 percent.
About the Liberty fixture
Liberty is Duvon's multi-sport field lighting family, from 800 to 1,200 watts. It produces 104,000 to 144,000 lumens per fixture at 130 to 140 lumens per watt, with 15, 25 or 45 degree optics. Housings are IP65 rated and the operating range runs from -40 to 131 F.
Key takeaways
- Old and new bays now share the same optics and controls.
- Re-aiming the original masts balanced light into the added bays.
- Planning consent depended on the perimeter cut-off.
