A Skokie driving range tracks ball flight to 250 yards under Liberty LEDs, with 20 fc at the tee and 6 fc at the far end, according to Duvon.

The challenge
Range lighting has to keep the ball visible from impact through a carry of about 250 yards, with no dim stretches in mid-range where the ball is lost against the grass. Ordinary floodlighting under-lights the deep range.
The solution
Duvon used 1200 W Liberty heads on poles beside the tees and free-standing masts in mid-field, aimed to give a stepped-down light level that keeps the ball visible along the whole carry. Wide-distribution lenses extend coverage without adding poles.
The outcome
Duvon reports 20 fc maintained at 50 yards, easing to 6 fc, still visible, at 250 yards, and full cut-off at the perimeter so nearby land stays dark, and a saving of up to 62 percent.
About the Liberty fixture
Liberty is Duvon's multi-sport field lighting family, from 800 to 1,200 watts. It produces 104,000 to 144,000 lumens per fixture at 130 to 140 lumens per watt, with 15, 25 or 45 degree optics. It is made to replace 2000 to 2500 watt metal halide and HID fixtures.
Key takeaways
- A graduated light profile suits ball flight better than uniform flood light.
- Mid-field masts handle the deep range.
- Cut-off optics keep neighbouring land dark.
