A regional sports complex lit a soccer pitch and tennis courts from shared poles, with two presets that re-tune the active sport, Duvon says.
Results
The challenge
Poles at the complex serve both a small-sided soccer pitch and a row of tennis courts, and the two sports follow each other through the evening. It needed one specification that could re-tune each sport without anyone adjusting fixtures.
The solution
Duvon fitted 1200 W Liberty heads over the pitch and 500 W Freedom heads on the courts, all on one hybrid DMX and DALI bus. Two presets, 'soccer' at 30 fc on the pitch and 'tennis' at 50 fc on the courts, dim the inactive area to ambient and can be chosen from the scoreboard control room.
The outcome
Duvon reports tournament-grade visibility on each surface and a 56 percent drop in facility-wide operating energy against the old installation.
About the Liberty fixture
Liberty is Duvon's multi-sport field lighting family, from 800 to 1,200 watts. It produces 104,000 to 144,000 lumens per fixture at 130 to 140 lumens per watt, with 15, 25 or 45 degree optics. Housings are IP65 rated and the operating range runs from -40 to 131 F.
Key takeaways
- Shared poles made sport-specific presets the practical answer.
- The off-sport area drops to ambient instead of staying fully lit.
- Presets are selected from an existing control room.
