Duvon lit an outdoor basketball court to 50 fc across the floor and 30 fc at the rim, with full cut-off optics to keep spill off nearby homes.
Results
The challenge
Outdoor basketball asks more of lighting than tennis because the ball travels mostly vertically and the rim is the most important visual target. A design based on horizontal light alone would leave the basket under-lit.
The solution
Duvon balanced horizontal and vertical light, aiming 400 W ProCourt heads to put 50 fc across the floor and 30 fc vertically at the rim. The full cut-off optics keep adjacent homes in darkness at the perimeter.
The outcome
Duvon reports consistent shadow control under the rim and 1.3:1 court uniformity, supporting pickup games, league play and youth tournaments, with a saving of up to 62 percent.
About the ProCourt fixture
ProCourt is Duvon's 300 and 400 watt court lighting family for tennis, pickleball and multi-court projects. A single fixture produces up to 54,495 lumens. Housings are IP65 rated, with full cut-off, asymmetric optics.
Key takeaways
- Vertical light at the rim was a design target in its own right.
- A court used for basketball needs different light than a tennis court.
- Full cut-off optics protected the surrounding homes.
