An Elgin tennis club replaced its metal-halide court lights with Freedom LEDs on the original poles and added about 90 evening minutes per court, Duvon says.
Results
The challenge
Members of the Illinois club had complained about fading light, slow restarts after winter power blips and dim areas near the back fence.
The solution
Duvon replaced every head with a 500 W Freedom asymmetric luminaire configured for the existing 30-foot poles. The fixtures are built for northern Illinois temperature swings, and the original pole grid stayed in place.
The outcome
Duvon reports an average of 49 fc maintained, 1.2:1 uniformity, light on instantly and 64 percent less connected load. The club extended its booked evening hours by about 90 minutes per court.
About the Freedom fixture
Freedom is Duvon's high-output court family at 500, 600 and 800 watts, designed for competition-level tennis and pickleball. It can replace 1500 to 2000 watt metal halide and HID fixtures. The LED engines are rated L70 at 100,000 hours or more with a 10-year warranty.
Key takeaways
- A faster restart matters most in winter, when power blips are common.
- The member-facing win was longer booked evenings.
- Existing poles kept the project simple.
