Claremont Club & Spa lit its courts to USTA Class II with shielding that kept ridge-side light below 0.05 fc, Duvon reports.

The challenge
The club's tennis is mostly member recreation and clinics, so the target was USTA Class II, not tournament. The harder limit was the neighbourhood: the courts look up to a residential ridge, and planners had asked for dark-sky-compliant lighting.
The solution
Duvon specified 400 W ProCourt luminaires, with shielding on the house side of the ridge-facing pole row and an unshielded asymmetric throw on the far row. The final aiming was done on a calm evening with a calibrated illuminance meter, and the readings went back to the planning department as commissioning evidence.
The outcome
Duvon reports 45 fc maintained light at 1.3:1 uniformity, and night readings at the ridge boundary below 0.05 fc, which beat the planning requirement. It puts the saving at up to 60 percent.
About the ProCourt fixture
ProCourt is Duvon's 300 and 400 watt court lighting family for tennis, pickleball and multi-court projects. It is made to replace 1000 to 1500 watt metal halide and other HID fixtures. The LED engines are rated L70 at 100,000 hours or more, backed by a 10-year warranty.
Key takeaways
- Row-specific shielding handled the ridge side differently from the far side.
- Meter readings taken on site went to the planners as evidence.
- The measured result beat the planning condition.
