Canyon HOA cut court-lighting energy by 65 percent with shielded Freedom LEDs, measured against twelve months of its own meter data, Duvon says.
Results
The challenge
The homeowners' association wanted to cap rising operating costs and stop light spilling onto the homes overlooking its courts. The old 1500 W heads did neither.
The solution
Duvon specified 500 W Freedom fixtures, the family it designs for HOA and recreational deployments, and shielded every fixture that faces a home. A bookable on/off switch added at the existing equipment box keeps the courts dark unless someone has reserved them.
The outcome
Duvon reports 45 fc maintained average at 1.4:1 uniformity, spill under 0.05 fc where the homes begin, and an operating energy cut of 65 percent measured against the previous twelve months of meter data.
About the Freedom fixture
Freedom is Duvon's high-output court family at 500, 600 and 800 watts, designed for competition-level tennis and pickleball. It can replace 1500 to 2000 watt metal halide and HID fixtures. Color temperature is 4000K or 5000K, with 70 CRI standard and 80 or 90 optional.
Key takeaways
- The saving was measured against a year of meter data, not a model.
- A bookable on/off control cut run-time as well as wattage.
- Shielding on every house-facing fixture addressed the neighbours.
