The Colorado Springs Switchbacks replaced their sod field with a FIFA-certified Sprinturf field using GreenPlay organic infill for a natural-grass feel and a cooler surface, according to Sprinturf.
Results
The challenge
The USL Championship club wanted to upgrade to a surface that met FIFA certification standards. Its sod field no longer met the performance and durability demands of a professional club, and it needed a natural-grass feel for ball control, cooler playing conditions and durability for frequent training and matches.
The solution
Sprinturf installed a synthetic field with GreenPlay organic infill, designed to reproduce the playing experience of natural grass. The infill reduces heat buildup and, being made from organic materials, is an eco-friendlier alternative to conventional infill.
The outcome
The Switchbacks now play on a FIFA-certified field with realistic ball roll, bounce and traction, a cooler and more natural feel, better durability for training and competition, and minimal maintenance.
