Ultra Base panels are interlocking bases that replace a concrete or asphalt pad or sit under artificial turf. The right one depends mostly on what goes on top.
Before choosing, settle what will sit on top (turf or a court surface), how much traffic and load the area sees, how flat and accessible the site is, and whether you need shock absorption. Warranty also differs: 10 years on the Professional, Champion and Omni panels and 5 years on the Court and Foundation panels, according to Ultra Base.
They are interlocking panels used as a base instead of poured concrete or asphalt, either under artificial turf or as the foundation for a sport court. Ultra Base says they drain through the panel and install without heavy equipment.
The Court panel is the court-specific option, with edge, corner and ADA ramp pieces and three color choices, and the Foundation panel is a black panel rated for higher loads as a concrete or asphalt alternative. Ultra Base's case studies show the Court panel under a backyard basketball court and the Foundation panel under a portable pickleball court.
The Professional panel is the strongest, for heavy traffic or loads, and the MAX panel adds a shock-absorbing membrane for athletic fields and playgrounds. The Champion panel is thinner and more cost-effective, and the Omni panel suits flatter sites with limited access.
Ultra Base lists vertical drainage of 424.5 inches per hour for the Court and Foundation panels, 400 inches per hour for the Omni and 754.3 inches per hour for the MAX panel. See each product page for the full specifications.
Ultra Base says the Foundation panel needs no heavy equipment and cuts installation time by about 40 percent compared with a concrete pad. Check each product page for the specifics of your site.
Ultra Base lists a 10-year warranty on the Professional, Champion and Omni panels, and a 5-year warranty on the Court and Foundation panels. Its warranty page does not list the MAX panel, so ask Ultra Base about coverage for that one.
