Littlestown Area School District put UltraBlade DFE turf on Thunderbolt Stadium for football, soccer, PE classes and community events, Sprinturf says.
Results
The challenge
Thunderbolt Stadium serves several athletic programs plus gym classes and community use. The district wanted turf that could take daily use without the upkeep of natural grass, since rain delays, wear and upkeep were cutting into how dependably the stadium could be scheduled.
The solution
Sprinturf supplied UltraBlade DFE turf, a Dual Fiber Elite build that pairs a fibrillated slit-film fiber with a C8 monofilament, at a 2.25 inch pile and a 40 oz face weight, with rubber and sand infill. It came from Sprinturf's own ISO 9001 certified plant in the USA, with an 8-year insured warranty.
The outcome
Sprinturf says the stadium can now host every program it was built for, whether a game, an everyday practice or a community event. It adds that the UltraBlade DFE platform has more than 3,500 installations and no fiber failures.
About the UltraBlade DFE system
UltraBlade DFE, short for Dual Fiber Elite, pairs UltraBlade slit film, which gives coverage and helps control infill, with a 330 micron C8 monofilament that stands upright for a defined blade and a resilient feel underfoot. It sits on a triple primary backing with a polyurethane secondary coat.
Key takeaways
- One field serves games, practices, PE classes and community events.
- Maintenance and weather delays were the limits of the old surface.
- The stadium is used year-round, not only for competition.
