Wisconsin Rapids Public Schools built a four-field turf baseball and softball quadplex at Lincoln High School, with Sprinturf supplying the turf.

The challenge
The district wanted to replace aging facilities with one central complex that could take heavy seasonal use with fewer weather cancellations and less maintenance. Natural grass limited scheduling and made it hard to host tournaments or offer more community use, and the district wanted a destination-level facility with long-term value.
The solution
The quadplex has two baseball and two softball fields, with Sprinturf DFE turf at a 54 oz face weight and a 2 inch pile on a rubber and sand infill. The complex also has concessions and restrooms, dugouts, press boxes, batting cages and bullpens, more lighting and spectator seating. Sprinturf supplied the turf only. Point of Beginning, Inc. handled the architecture and civil engineering, and Altmann Construction Company led construction.
The outcome
Sprinturf says the facility gives the district more scheduling flexibility, lower maintenance and a tournament-ready complex, and puts Wisconsin Rapids in a position to attract regional tournaments.
About the UltraBlade DFE system
UltraBlade DFE, short for Dual Fiber Elite, pairs UltraBlade slit film, which gives coverage and helps control infill, with a 330 micron C8 monofilament that stands upright for a defined blade and a resilient feel underfoot. It sits on a triple primary backing with a polyurethane secondary coat.
Key takeaways
- Four fields in one complex support tournaments, not only team play.
- Sprinturf supplied the turf only, with other firms on design and construction.
- Dugouts, press boxes and lighting were part of the same development.
