Chase Fieldhouse in Wilmington doubled its outdoor turf to four fields, with two new Sprinturf fields built in under five weeks, according to Sprinturf.
Results
The challenge
Chase Fieldhouse, a regional hub for youth leagues, tournaments and the Delaware Blue Coats, needed more outdoor field capacity without lowering the standard of its fields. The new fields had to handle back-to-back events across several sports, and the work had to fit a tight construction window.
The solution
Sprinturf supplied UltraBlade DFE Single Needle turf at a 2 inch pile and a 42 oz face weight, with rubber and sand infill, from its own ISO 9001 certified plant in the USA, with an 8-year insured warranty. The two fields were built in under five weeks, and the first event was held shortly after.
The outcome
With four turf fields on the campus, Chase Fieldhouse can fit in more camps, tournaments, practices, games and night events, across more sports. Sprinturf describes the surface as durable and low maintenance for athletes of all ages.
About the UltraBlade DFE Single Needle system
UltraBlade DFE Single Needle puts Sprinturf's slit-film fiber and a C8 monofilament in the same tuft, on a 1/2 inch gauge, so the fibers spread evenly across the field for a refined look. The slit film is 120 microns thick and the monofilament 330 microns, on a triple primary backing with a polyurethane secondary coat.
Key takeaways
- A construction window under five weeks shaped the schedule.
- Five sports share the same fields.
- The first event followed shortly after completion.
