After a 2016 flood destroyed its gym floors, Eureka High School replaced them with Robbins Bio-Cushion Classic and Pulastic Classic 110 floors.
Results
The challenge
Flooding in early 2016 destroyed the floors in both gyms, a wrestling room and an aerobics room. The district had already had a poor experience with a non-Robbins floor and installer at another school. The new floors also had to handle heavy use, since the community rents the gyms for events.
The solution
The Rockwood School District called in Missouri Floor Company to survey the damage and replace each floor. The work used Bio-Cushion Classic and Pulastic Classic 110, chosen for safety for growing athletes and for durability under constant traffic.
The outcome
Eureka's facilities director reports an enthusiastic response from coaches, parents and players. The district kept working with Missouri Floor and went on to install Robbins floors at other schools.
About the Pulastic Classic 110 floor
Pulastic Classic 110 is an 11 mm model in Robbins' Pulastic range, an all-round floor that can be resurfaced and helps absorb sound. Pulastic floors are seamless and non-porous, so they are easy to maintain and repair, and they contain recycled content with a water-based finish.
Key takeaways
- A poor experience with another installer shaped how the district chose its dealer.
- Gyms that the community rents need floors that take heavy traffic.
- The district repeated its choice at other schools.

In their words
I had a coach pull me aside the other day raving about how nice the new floor is … the reaction from parents and players has been amazing.
