How to choose between SMG machines

SMG's machines are organised by the job in the sports surface build, so start with the step you need to do.

  • Mixing binder and rubber granules: the MixMatic M250 is a compact petrol batch mixer (90 kg per 2-minute cycle) for small quantities, and the M140 is an electric batch mixer (125 kg per cycle). For bigger jobs, the M1100L and M2404L are hydraulic mixing shovels (150 and 300 kg per cycle), and the M5300 is a continuous mixer for two-component polyurethane systems at 65 kg a minute.
  • Paving elastic layers and tracks: the P928 is the lightest at 950 kg, the P828 is the faster of the two compact pavers at up to 890 m2 an hour, and the P936 is the largest, paving strips up to 3.6 m wide at roughly 970 m2 an hour.
  • Spraying, spreading and grinding: the StrukturMatic S122D sprays structural coatings and primer, the GranuMatic G402D blows rubber granules up to 12 m wide, and the RotoMatic R58 is a compact grinder for edges and small areas.
  • Artificial turf infill and care: the SandMatic B2005 spreads infill on turf, the RenoMatic RM1500 (3-point hitch) and RM1502 (drawbar-towed) remove it, and the SportChamp SC3D4HL is a ride-on machine for cleaning and maintaining turf.
  • Line marking: the LineStar LS1 is a 28 kg battery-powered striper for lines of 50 to 120 mm, and the LS15 is a petrol striper for lines of 4 to 15 cm.

Before choosing, settle the area you need to cover per hour, what power is available on site (petrol, diesel, electric 400 V or battery), the weight you can transport, whether you have a tractor or loader for the attachment models, and the material you are working with.

Frequently asked questions

What does SMG make?

SMG has produced machines for installing, cleaning and maintaining synthetic sports surfaces since 1975. The range covers mixing, paving, spraying and granule spreading for track and court construction, plus infill handling, grinding, line marking and maintenance for artificial turf.

Which SMG mixer is right for my job?

For small batches, the M250 (petrol, 90 kg per cycle) and M140 (electric, 125 kg per cycle) are batch mixers. The M1100L and M2404L are hydraulic mixing shovels for larger batches, and the M5300 automatically mixes two-component polyurethane systems.

How do the PlanoMatic pavers differ?

The P928 weighs 950 kg and covers up to 730 m2 an hour, the P828 covers up to 890 m2 an hour at 1,300 kg, and the P936 is the largest, with a paving width up to 3.6 m and up to 970 m2 an hour. The P828 and P928 pave strips up to 2.7 m wide.

What is the difference between the RenoMatic RM1500 and RM1502?

Both remove sand, rubber or organic infill from artificial turf over a 1,500 mm working width. The RM1500 is a 410 kg attachment for a tractor's 3-point hitch, and the RM1502 is a 1,150 kg drawbar-towed unit with a vertical loader.

Which line marking machine should I choose?

The LineStar LS1 is a light, battery-powered airless striper (28 kg) for 50 to 120 mm lines, and the LS15 is a petrol-driven striper (140 kg) for 4 to 15 cm lines on synthetic sports surfaces and artificial turf.

What power do SMG machines need?

It depends on the model: petrol, diesel, 400 V electric, hydraulic drive from a loader, tractor PTO and hydraulics, or a 12 V battery. Each product page lists the power and weight.
