How to choose between GeoSurfaces products

GeoSurfaces covers the whole surface build, so start with the part of the project you are choosing.

  • Running tracks (GeoTrax): the FP is a 15 mm, three-layer impermeable full-pour track, the FP-10 is a thinner 10 mm, two-layer version, the SW is a 14 mm impermeable sandwich system, and the SP is a 13 mm permeable structural spray track for regional and university programs. The FP, SW and SP are listed as IAAF approved systems.
  • Artificial turf for fields: GeoGreen is an infilled "replicated grass" turf paired with a GeoFlo shock pad, and GeoGreen PEN is an infill-free alternative with polyethylene face yarn and a nylon thatch.
  • Baseball and softball: the GeoTrax SB is a softball infield turf designed to mimic compacted clay, and the GeoTrax warning track is a synthetic filament track surface. Both meet NCAA and high school criteria, according to GeoSurfaces.
  • Under and in the turf system: the GeoBase RIGD is a 40 mm rigid grid filled with concrete to make a flat base, the GeoFlo+ is a shock pad and drainage blanket, and Pivot Cool is an inorganic infill that cools the surface.
  • Maintenance: the GeoGroomer 760 is a tow-behind sweeper with a magnet for debris and spikes.

Before choosing, settle the sport and level of play (and whether you need an IAAF-approved track), whether you want a permeable or impermeable track, infill or infill-free turf, the condition of the soil under the field, and how much maintenance you can take on. The track systems list a 5-year warranty.

Frequently asked questions

What does GeoSurfaces offer?

GeoSurfaces designs, builds and installs sports surfaces, and describes its service as turnkey. The products here cover running tracks, artificial turf, a concrete-grid field base, a shock pad, an infill cooling agent and a turf groomer.

How do the GeoTrax running tracks differ?

The FP and FP-10 are impermeable full-pour tracks, with the FP at 15 mm and the FP-10 at 10 mm. The SW is a 14 mm impermeable sandwich system, and the SP is a 13 mm permeable structural spray track. All four list a 5-year warranty.

Which GeoTrax tracks are IAAF approved?

GeoSurfaces lists the FP, SW and SP as IAAF approved systems. The FP-10 is not listed as certified, so check with GeoSurfaces if you need a certified surface.

What is the difference between GeoGreen and GeoGreen PEN?

Both are "replicated grass" turf with a urethane-locked backing. GeoGreen is infilled with SBR over a sand ballast layer and has a filament height up to 2 inches, while GeoGreen PEN is infill-free, with polyethylene yarn, a texturized nylon thatch and a 1 1/8 inch pile.

What is GeoBase and when would I use it?

GeoBase is a rigid, integrated grid (RIGD) in 3 by 4 ft, 40 mm panels that is filled with free-poured concrete to make a stable, flat base for turf. GeoSurfaces backs the GeoBase RIGD with a 25-year warranty covering planarity problems caused by known unsuitable soils, water tables or moisture content.

What does GeoFlo+ do?

The GeoFlo+ is a closed-cell expanded polypropylene shock pad that also drains, giving the turf system a vertical-to-horizontal flow path. It can reduce G-Max by up to 50 points, and GeoSurfaces guarantees a G-Max of 135 during the turf's 8-year warranty period.
